Les Ayling


Born in Portsmouth, Les began playing Bass in is his teans.In the late 70's early 80's he played and toured the UK in a number of bands.'Flying High' with Gary Webb,Kieth Wymark, and 'Last Orders with Kieth Wymark and Steve Hampton all well known musicians in the southern UK.

In 1992 he teamed up with Pete Turner in the 'Langton Thorn' band which became 'Step On the Gas' when David Trott (Millwalkee Dave) joined on Guitar in 1993. By late 1994 David Trott left and Tim Dunn was recruited in early 1995.It was during his time with Step on the Gas that Les started to take on lead singing roles, and he can be heard singing on 'Walking' on the Step on the Gas CD 'Down the Road Apiece.

Step on the Gas split in 2002 and Les went on the form This Way Up with Colin Hovey and Tim Dunn

Les's enthusiasm for Bass guitar has increased over the years and he owns many expensive 5 string and 4 string bass Guitars.
